Free Open Composition Studio – Biweekly Sessions
The Open Composition Studio is a biweekly online session dedicated to listening, discussion, and critical reflection on contemporary composition.
Every two weeks, I host a focused studio meeting where two composers present their work in front of a small audience. The goal is not evaluation or competition, but careful listening, clear feedback, and thoughtful exchange around compositional process, technique, form, and aesthetic decisions.
Format
Each session includes:
-
One or two presenting composers
-
Up to 8 observers
Sessions last 60 minutes and take place online.
Each presenting composer shares a short excerpt (score or audio), followed by comments and discussion. Observers are welcome to listen and take part in the final conversation.
Who is it for
-
Composition students (Bachelor, Master, PhD)
-
Emerging composers
-
Composers interested in contemporary practices and reflective discussion
-
Observers who want to learn through listening and exchange
Participation
Participation is free, and places are limited.
Applications are handled on a first come, first served basis.
For each session:
-
Presentation slots are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis among those who wish to present, subject to availability
